About Billie

The name stayed with me longer than it should have. Billie Raye. It carried weight, like it had already been said once somewhere important. When I heard her sing, it felt the same way. It sounded like she knew how the night would end and saw no reason to hurry there.

You could hear that that voice came from someone who had spent more time listening than talking, someone who understood that silence isn’t empty if you know how to stand inside it. I didn’t think about where she was from or what she wanted. I only remember letting the demos run again and again, and realizing I hadn’t thought about anything else for a while. When something feels that alive, you listen, and you’re glad it found you when it did.
